The purpose of happiness research

"All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way" (Tolstoy, 1877).

This quote was the starting point of the happiness research. I wanted to find out if all happy and unhappy people share some distinct similarities. I started researching this by interviewing people about what makes them happy, their habits, role models.

Through my research, I look for insights on what helped people become aware of their unique strengths, and how they found their own authentic path of meaning and happiness. The research is ongoing, and consists of one hour Skype interviews.  I invite you to be part of this research.

WHY BE PART OF RESEARCH?

Because it's fun, and it's rewarding to stop and think about your life's story. It's like a therapy session. The spotlight is on you.

Questions we'll go through together:

WHERE YOU ARE NOW

  • What about your work is exciting? How satisfied are you with your work? What about your work/life balance? Why?
  • How would you rate yourself on this statement "I love my life"? Do you feel satisfied and connected to the path you're on?
  • What do you believe are your unique strengths, and how did you come to discover them?

HOW YOU GOT HERE

  • Tell me your life story - how did you get to where you are now? What significant life moments defined your path so far?
  • Was there a moment early in life when you learned how to deal with pain? What did you learn in the process?
  • What did you learn that helped you understand who you are as a person?
  • What role does spirituality play in your life?

HOW YOU STAY ON THE PATH

  • Think of a time when you wrestled between doing what you thought you SHOULD do, and doing what you felt deep down you WANT to do. A time when you were brave and followed your heart's advice. How did you find the strength to do what you wanted to do?
  • Tell me a story of a situation where something went wrong.  What did you learn in the process?
  • What are your reliable habits that help keep you on a path of personal authenticity and happiness?
  • What helps you get centered when you steer away from that path?
